The Graduation Coach Initiative 
            

The Chamber's Graduation Coach Initiative is helping more students stay in school and graduate.  This unique partnership between the Chamber's Franklin Initiative and both local school districts began in 2007 to address rising dropout rates in Monroe County.

Graduation Coaches are Chamber employees who work in-school in partnership with school staff. There are three Grad Coaches, one at North, one at South, and one at Edgewood HS. Each works intensively with a caseload of 50-60 students at greatest risk for dropping out as indicated by low GPA’s, low credit attainment, or poor attendance. They monitor grades and attendance, build supportive relationships, provide one-on-one counseling, and connect with parents. The program uses Check & Connect®, an acclaimed research-based model for keeping kids in school recognized by the U.S. Department of Education What Works Clearinghouse.
