Through our advocacy and public policy efforts, The Chamber serves its members by: Positioning the greater Bloomington area as a leading business center, engaging in and positively impacting local issues relevant to the business community, monitor and engage in state and federal legislative policy on behalf of business and the community.
Advocacy Overview
It is our role to find the best way to serve and protect our local businesses. The Chamber works to unite its members with a collective voice through the use of formal positions initiated by the Chamber Advocacy Council and then adopted by The Chamber Board of Directors on a number of issues that directly affect business. Some examples of issues The Chamber has adopted positions for include:
- Ongoing Efforts in Support of Planning and Development of I-69 in Monroe County
- Downtown parking issues
- Monroe County Comprehensive Plan
- City of Bloomington's Growth Policies Plan
