    Heading Home of South Central Indiana is hosting a daylong summit on April 14 to address issues related to housing and homelessness in our region. It runs from 8am-5pm (program starts at 9am) at the Bloomington (Monroe) Convention Center. This link to the Eventbrite registration provides program details. As a sampling, breakout sessions include:

    • Building a Capital Stack for Affordable Housing: Case Studies. Moderated by John Zody of CDFI Friendly Bloomington with 3 small developers of affordable housing as panelists

    • Land Trusts as a Tool for Affordable Housing: Panelists from the Summit Hill Community Development Corp Land Trust and Avalon Land Trust 

    • Innovative Housing Projects in Rural Communities: Jon Racek (IU Center for Rural Engagement) and Brian English (Origin Designs)

    • How to Support Incremental Development in Your Community: Tim Corcoran of the Incremental Development Alliance and South Bend planning director

    • Building Stability Through Community: An overview of the Thriving Connections program and how to implement it in other communities

    • Housing & the Faith Community: How the Greater Indianapolis Multifaith Alliance is supporting the Streets to Home Indy initiative — Rabbi Aaron Speigel

    • Eliminating Barriers to Housing: Panel of landlords and property managers moderated by Mary Hamric, Heading Home Director of Strategic Partnerships

    • Impacts of Recent State Legislation on Housing Opportunities: David Hittle, City of Bloomington director of planning & transportation

    • How to Be a Poverty Abolitionist: Strategies for tackling the underlying issues that affect homelessness and housing insecurity

    • Toolkit for Local and State Housing Advocacy: Tracey Hutchings-Goetz, Hoosier Action
