Let's face it: most people are inherently skeptical of financial advisors. I get that. I was a skeptic, too. Before working at Edward Jones, I had two previous careers: one in music and media ministry and one in medical device marketing. For these years, I was skeptical of the value financial advisors could bring. I had a less-than-ideal experience with a financial advisor in young adulthood that shaded the way I looked at the profession. Decades later, though, I look back with regret. I realize how much I could have benefitted from working with a financial advisor early in my career that created a strategy around my needs. My evolution in understanding how helpful a good financial advisor can be is why I chose to leave a successful career and start over again to chase my passion. At my branch, we are driven by an unshakeable commitment to building financial strategies with you at the center and a "do unto others" philosophy. My filter is simple for each recommendation I make: "Knowing what I know as a professional, how would I feel if I were on the receiving end of my advice?" While many talk about service, I live it. For more than two decades, I have volunteered with Bloomington area churches, the local homeless population and Habitat for Humanity. I currently serve in my church's student ministries as a teacher and mentor, an occasional fill-in for our media ministry and in our Married Life ministry as a premarital counselor and teacher. I have been married to my wife, Amy (Petry) Lanham, the librarian for the Owen County School System, for more than 20 years and have two teenage boys who are my biggest source of joy and pride. Let's make some time to talk about you and getting you on a pathway to enjoying what's most important to you.
